Before you can start playing using a controller, you need to prepare Steam to accept the controller. If Elden Ring is running in the background, close it before continuing. Then follow these steps:
Step 1: Launch Steam. Click on the Steam tab in the upper right corner. Select Settings in the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Select Controller in the window that opens. Select General Controller Settings.
Step 3: Select the type of controller support according to the controller you are using. For example, check “Xbox Configuration Support” if you are using an Xbox controller.
Step 4: Plug in the controller via USB. Use the latest USB port. For example, if you have an open USB 3.0 port, use it. Select this if you only have USB 2.0.
