Tencent announced on Thursday that the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022 will take place between August 11 and August 20 and will feature a massive $3 million prize pool. The event will be a LAN event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PUBG Mobile has partnered with Gamers8 and ESL for the event.
PUBG Mobile uploaded a video to its social media accounts earlier today to reveal the details of the event. Apart from PMWI, Tencent also announced that PMGC 2022 will have a huge prize pool of $4 million.
PUBG Mobile PMWI 2022 Format and Schedule
PUBG Mobile Global Esports Director James Yang has revealed the details of PMWI 2022. The event will be played in two weeks (Main Event and After Party). The first week, planned to be held between 11-13 August, consists of a total of 18 invited teams.
The second week, called After Party Showdown, will run from August 18 to August 20. This week follows a new format with a total of 12 teams participating. The top five teams of the week 1 and six teams from the selected region will compete in the second week with a special invitation.
The first week will have a total prize pool of $2 million, while the second week will have a $1 million prize pool.

In January 2022, Tencent announced that two Global Esports tournaments will be held this year, the Mid Season Invitational and the Global Championship. The Mid-Season Invitational is now called the World Invitational 2022.
PMWI 2021: East was won by Thai Valdus Esports team, which donated a $442,500 charitable prize to the International Medical Corps. CIS team Natus Vincere took second place, followed by Vietnam's D'Xavier.
While Alpha 7 Esports became the champion of the West and donated $352,500 in donation money to UNICEF, Konina Power placed second and Next Dream placed third in the event.
