Players can find a Maewing on all three maps of the game without using any mods. Lost Island, Fjordur, and Genesis 2 all have areas where Maewings spawn naturally.

What is Maewing in ARK: Survival Evolved?

Maewing is kind of gross, but then again, so are a lot of wildlife in Survival Evolved. The creature is considered a hybrid between a platypus and a flying squirrel.

It is a non-violent herbivore with incredible mobility, whether in the air or in the water. It can jump and glide with tremendous speed.

Maewings has a pouch that can be used to protect any baby.

The maewing is flawless with its webbed feet and duckbill.

Those looking to add Maewing to their arsenal of dinosaurs and other monsters can search for it on three different maps in ARK: Survival Evolved. Maewings are quite large so they are hard to miss.

Here are three maps where they can be found and exactly where they are located: Lost Island : The grassy plains of Lost Island are typically where the Maewings live. They are usually found in the eastern plains, near swamps and rivers.

Fjordur : Fjordur is the latest map added to the game and features the Maewings in the Redwoods Region. This is northeast of the main realm and is noticeable by the mass of Redwood trees. Again, rivers are the places where it is seen most frequently. Watch out for dangerous dinosaurs on your way here.

Genesis 2: Players can find Maewings almost anywhere in Genesis 2's Elden Region. Rivers, streams, and lakes are where creatures spend most of their time. Head to the northeast quadrant to begin your search.

Players will be able to tame Maewings after finding them in any of the above locations. The large feathered creature stands out with its webbed feet and duckbill.

How to tame Maewing in ARK: Survival Evolved

When a player encounters a Maewing in ARK: Survival Evolved, taming it is the next step. Maewing is a vital partner to have when considering transportation and nursing skills.

Still, these fast creatures are difficult to tame. They can fly through the air with ease and often escape combat in bodies of water where they are found.

Maewings are somewhat timid when not tamed, so players should be careful. There are two ways to tame them, but players will need to approach carefully so they don't get startled.

The first method requires the following items: Harpoon Launcher

Net Bullet

crossbow

Calming Darts

Basic Bibble or Basic Vegetables

Players can sneak up on Maewing, fire the Net Projectile from the Harpoon Launcher, and dart it until they're knocked out. From there they can start the domestication process.

The second method takes a little longer but is cheaper in terms of items needed. The required items are as follows: 3 Wooden Billboards

Rare Flower

crossbow

Calming Darts

Basic Bibble or Basic Vegetables

After the creature is drawn into V, players must place the third billboard behind it and trap it. They can then knock him out and tame him as in the previous method.

The main difference between the two methods is time consumption and cost.
