Top characters for Memory of Dust in Genshin Impact

Memory of Dust is a niche Catalyst that has only a few good users in Genshin Impact. Those who need a refresher on what Memory of Dust is should know that this is its effect:

"Increases Shield Power by 20/25/30/35/40%. Hits on enemies increase ATK by 4/5/6/7/8% for 8 seconds. Max 5 charges. Can only occur every 0.3 seconds. While shielded with a shield, this ATK amplification effect is increased by 100%."

Changed numbers are due to Healing Levels. Only two Catalysts can shield in Genshin Impact 2.7. This means that for other Catalyst users to take advantage of this effect, they have to rely on another character to craft shields.

Ningguang and Yanfei are the most productive Memory of Dust users in Genshin Impact.

Memory of Dust's two main effects largely revolve around Shield Strength and ATK. If a Catalyst user is not using any shields, the old buff is useless. They can rely on external protectors to help them, but they usually have better Catalysts to use in these scenarios.

Therefore, it is worth looking at the two main users of this little book. Two Catalyst users who can create shields:

yanfei

Ningguang creates shields through Crystallized Elemental Reaction. Crystallization occurs when Geo reacts with Pyro, Electro, Cryo or Hydro. When this happens, a small piece will drop and players will be able to lift it to get a corresponding shield.

Note that Ningguang's Elemental Ability is not a shield. It may look like a giant shield covering a certain area, but it is not classified as a shield in Genshin Impact. Instead, it's a Geo Construct.

Still, Ningguang can easily trigger Crystallize, which makes him a skilled user of this weapon.

The second user to mention is Yanfei. Genshin Impact players looking at their Elemental Skill, Burst, and Passive will not see any shields. Instead, their shield is located in the fourth Constellation. As such, Travelers must have a C4 Yanfei to effectively build their Pyro shields.

When Yanfei's C4 effect uses his Elemental Blast, he creates a shield that can absorb up to 45% of his maximum HP for 15 seconds. This effect synergizes with the effect of Memory of Dust, and the extra ATK boost is also appreciated.

Other Catalyst users could theoretically use Memory of Dust in Genshin Impact, but doing so would not be optimal.

For example, Klee is a good DPS option with cheaper alternatives like The Widsith and Dodoco Tales. Similarly, some Catalyst users do not need to increase their ATK. A good example would be Barbara, who is a terrible option for this weapon in any non-meme scenario.

As of Genshin Impact 2.7, only Ningguang and a C4 Yanfei can use this weapon effectively. Future Catalyst users who can somehow shield will also be able to put it to good use (although whether this is their best option is a different story).
