Where does Diablo Immortal take place?
While Diablo Immortal is a mobile entry into the series, it still belongs in the canon of the universe. This is not a spin-off, it takes place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III. This means that the events of the latest Diablo game take place in the same environment as all previous games.
The world of Sanctuary hosts these events, starting five years after D2. However, players will find themselves in a different part of Sanctuary, starting with the town of Wortham.
Diablo Immortal takes place in Sanctuary
Deckard Cain helps the player once again by returning from his appearances in previous Diablo games. He informs them that the Worldstone has been shattered and that the pieces are only used by mortals to gain demonic powers.
This is all a conspiracy of the game's main antagonist, Skarn the Lord of Damnation. Players are tasked with choosing a class and destroying the World Stone fragments to adventure through the Sanctuary and prevent a world-ending catastrophe.
The journey through Sanctuary includes the following locations outside of Wortham's starting area:
Westmarch: Known as the City of Light, Westmarch is the central hub for players in Diablo Immortal. Vendors, other players, social activities and warehouse are accessible in this bustling city.
- Ashworld Cemetery: The Graveyard is the second center players will visit. Grave robber is filled with bandits, undead monsters, and a traveling car that can be attacked and looted every half hour.
- Dark Wood: Dark Wood is a Khanduran forest that first appeared in Diablo II. It is home to many formidable enemies brought by a forgotten evil that has taken over the forest.
- Shassar Sea: Despite its name implying that it is a body of water, the Shassar Sea is a vast desert region. It was once believed to contain water, as evidenced by the remains of ancient docks and boats.
- Mount Zavain: This mountain is part of the Tamoe Range and the Ivgorod Monks have a strong presence there. They are among Sanctuary's deadliest warriors.
- Frozen Tundra: The barbarians have claimed the land of the Frozen Tundra since the destruction of Mount Arreat. The only way to prevent the perpetual war of the snowy wasteland is through the power of those Barbarians.
Players must pass them as they wish, but must make sure they reach the appropriate level in Diablo Immortal to avoid being killed on arrival. As the list progresses, each field suggests a higher level.
