League of Legends' Crab Crab is broken, Redditor uses all his tough CC skills to prove a point
In League of Legends, the Crab Crab is a cutthroat neutral beast that prowls the river of Summoner's Rift. When a Baron or dragon is destroyed, a Temple of Speed is built, giving the squad 90 seconds of increased movement speed and vision surrounding the monster's pits.
It has a shield that is resistant to attacks like Smite and some crowd control spells. In general, players believed that single-damaging crowd control spells would destroy the shield first, then damage Crab Crab's health.
However, recent research by Reddit user towering swordfish suggests the opposite. The user posted his research on Scuttle Crabs in the League's subreddit. He discovered that some of the Champions' hard CC abilities would no longer damage Crab's shield, even though it would remove it.
Here's the entire Reddit post:
In simple words, the League of Legends Redditor discovered that some spells do damage before CC (crowd control) is applied, even if they are a combined event for spell shields.
League of Legends Redditor tested 145 CC ability on Scuttle Crab to reveal its malfunction
The player tested a total of 145 devastating CC abilities in Scuttle Crab. 100 of them deal damage properly through the Scuttle Shield. However, even though they occurred exactly at the same time as the CC effect, the shield absorbed the damage from the other 45 CC abilities.
100 of these skills damaged Scuttle Shield. These interactions and results were present over the previous 10 patches.
Soaring Swordfish noted how this feature reduces Crab Crab clear time when used with non-meta junglers like Volibear and Evelynn. He discovered that 45 (approximately 31 percent) of the 145 available crowd control abilities, which include passive, Q, W, E, or R, showed the effect mentioned.
"If an ability does damage if they also apply CC, I expect it to completely damage crabs. This balance should really have no downsides and should be done as a large-scale bug fix in a patch. Ideally, it's as simple as changing the way these abilities are encoded and the order in which the cc is applied. , but I can't say for sure that this is why these interactions happen."
Problems with the Scuttle Crab are not new news for the League of Legends community. Junglers faced recurring issues with the River Beast many times, including spawning early and immortality.
The entire League of Legends Reddit community praised the researcher's efforts. They hope that Riot will see your message to address and fix the issue in future releases.
