Master Yi buffs in League of Legends patch 12.13 will overpower him once again
As League of Legends mega patch 12.13 approaches, Summoner's Rift is once again at the point where Master Yi will be either a pick or a banned champion when playing any ranked game.
In a recent Twitter post, Riot Games' design manager Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison announced the buffs and nerfs that League of Legends champions will receive in the form of preliminaries 12.13. One of them is "Wuju Bladesman" Master Yi and he appears to be horribly broken: Auto Attack range: 125 >>> 175
New addition - Once the alpha attack is over, choose the direction you want it to appear relative to the target
Meditate (W):
Waiting time: 28sec >>> 9sec
Mana Cost: 50 Per Second >>> 40 +6% max. Meaning
New addition - Damage reduction in the first 0.5 seconds of meditation is 90%
Damage Reduction always persists for 0.5 seconds after W expires
Master Yi will receive a lot of buffs thanks to his updates. Auto-attack range will also be expanded, and W gains some tenacity while channeling the Meditation ability.
With his latest tweaks, Master Yi's W cooldown has also been greatly reduced. He can now use the skill every nine seconds. Riot, however, has eliminated Meditation's flat League of Legends mana cost to make things more balanced.
Instead, as you continue to channel him, he will not only use up some mana up front, but gradually reduce mana as well. So, until he has the blue buff, Yi won't be able to spam the ability or use his short cooldown too much.
Master Yi will become a true League of Legends beast while focusing on boosting Riot Meditation
The first and foremost thing to consider is Master Yi's larger auto attack range. His hit range will be one-third of a typical ADC champion at this level. Too much for a champion who specializes in eliminating ADCs and all backline hits.
Also, the full-lethal Duskblade Master Yi's potency is now more powerful than ever, with increasing impending lethality due to the addition of the choice of where to appear with his Q.
Finally, Master Yi will transform into a true slayer thanks to his W damage reduction and stamina upgrade. Even if this is over-extended, it will take long enough for him to regain his cooldown and finish off the remaining team. It will also perform admirably for early game dives.
On top of that, pretty much every League of Legends player thinks that Master Yi is only effective when representing the opposition. Now, with future buffs and adjustments, perceptions of the Noxian Blademaster may change.
League of Legends players can look forward to the moments when an ally Master Yi miscalculates the new Q placement, overestimates his stamina, and eventually fuels the entire game.
But it would be interesting to see the tweaks made for Master Yi in their final version after the official patch appears in the 12.13 notes. It currently has a 46.97 percent jungle win rate, the third worst of all junglers in the game.
